American Illustration 30

One of my illustrations, Mustache On My Mind, has been selected to appear in the American Illustration 30 annual. I've been included in the online gallery for the past couple years, but this is a first for making it into the book.

I'm honored to know that this years jury included Nicholas Blechman, The New York Times Book Review; Rachael Cole, Schwartz & Wade Books; Michael Ian Kaye, Mother New York; Todd Oldham, Todd Oldham Studio; D.W. Pine III, TIME; David Saylor, Scholastic Inc. and Dean Sebring, Worth. More than 7,000 images were entered by over 1,100 illustrators, magazines, agencies, publishers and schools. The jury selected, by a majority vote or better, only 316 images to appear in the book and represent the best illustrations from 2010. AI30 will be printed in full color and distributed worldwide in hardcover immediately after The Party, November 10, 2011. Looking forward to seeing everyone again at that too! Congratulations to all the other illustrators that made it in this year as well!

American Illustration 29

Get it on a T-SHIRT!

RTD’s infamous “Greetings From Mr. Bird” illustration that was done with Stephanie Glaros at Utne Reader will be appearing in this years American Illustration 29 web gallery and joining RTD’s past winners at ai-ap.com. It was one of only 280 images from over 8,000 submitted to receive enough votes to appear permanently on the website.

If you don’t have a limited edition print of Greetings From Mr. Bird on your wall yet you definitely should :) Get him now before he sells out from the RTD Store - LINK.

Here’s a bit more from Mark Heflin, the Director American Illustration & American Photography:

On behalf of the entire jury, I thank you for your submission and support of American Illustration. This year’s distinguished panel included: Rodrigo Corral, Rodrigo Corral Design; Irene Gallo, Tor, Forge, & Starscape Books; Rob Hewitt, Curious Outsider Design Studio; Kory Kennedy, Runners World; Gail Marowitz, Roadrunner Records; Siung Tjia, ESPN The Magazine; Jason Treat, The Atlantic.

Your chosen image, along with your contact and credit information and link to your website, will accompany the collection of all winning illustrations representing the best images from 2009.

A slide presentation announcing the winning images will be sent to all entrants and to our member list of over 30,000 creative professionals in May.
